1849 Model naval pistol, with a square-bore barrel that later became round-bore, 172 mm long, stock clamp marked "Mle 1849," lock signed by the Manufacture Nationale de Châtellerault and stamped L (Louis LAHAYE, inspector at Châtellerault from 1844 to 1854), belt hook, “loss-proof” rod on chains, wooden grip with brass fittings, cap stamped with an anchor, barrel and stock marked 1826, signs of wear, oxidation, overall length 315 mm, France, Second Republic period, category D § e. Rare pistol, of which 8,433 were manufactured between 1849 and 1853.
