A fine hunting arquebus, with an 835-mm octagonal barrel slightly flared at the muzzle, featuring six distinct rifling grooves visible at the muzzle, a swiveling front sight and an iron rear sight, a lion-and-thunder hallmark, a large flat-bodied lock plate, fully engraved with a martyrdom scene (Saint Sebastian and Ottoman archers?), marked “Ios Helweger in Lorenzen,” inverted hammer and trigger guard, wooden stock with bone and brass inlays, slide with engraved bone inlay, wooden stock with brass-ringed butt plate, signs of wear, oxidation, mechanism requires servicing otherwise ABE-BE, overall length 1140 mm, late 18th-century manufacture, category D § e.
