One of the XX rarest Pyrenean books SCHRADER (Jean Daniel François dit Franz) Études Géographiques et Excursions dans le Massif du Mont Perdu. Paris, Gauthier-Villars, 1875. In-8: 61pp. Frontispiece from the C.A.F. yearbook, one fold-out plate, one fold-out map in fine color. Copy with 2 albumen photographs of Mont-Perdu and a hors texte plate of the Bielsa valley taken from the summit of the Cirque (2595 m.) engraved by Guérin after SCHRADER's drawing. Tampkn humide bibliothèque Hachette & Cie. ½ brown basane, gilt title throughout on lightened smooth spine. One of the XX rarest Pyrenean books according to Labarère's classification (n°XIII), with its beautiful large map. HEID, BERALDI and MARTEL were already stressing its extreme rarity at the turn of the century. Published in the "Mémoires de la Soc. des Sciences Physiques et Naturelles de Bordeaux", then in the "Annuaire du C.A.F." of 1874, then in 1875 in the first year of the "Annuaire du C.A.F.". (pp. 100-128 with woodcut and photo, but not the fold-out plate, and rarely with map). BERALDI: "the first gripping account of youth, of sacred fire and coup d'oeil [...] a moving voyage because it is the direct, immediate continuation of RAMOND's two voyages" (Labarère 1485).
