Bourges, Toubeau, 1690. 2 works in one volume in folio : 4f. 514pp. - 6f., 292pp. Contemporary brown calf, spine ribbed and decorated, red title-piece, small damage to the headband at the foot, epidermal marks, gilt roulette on the edges, red edges. Rare collection of two important medieval French legal texts. Until the end of the 17th century, Beaumanoir's work, of great authority, was known and spread only by handwritten copies. Thaumas de la Thaumassière gave the first edition of this fundamental medieval legal text. At the same time, Thaumas de la Thaumassière published the oldest text of overseas law, "Les Assises de Jérusalem", according to the manuscript in the Vatican Library. The "Anciennes coustumes de Riom" occupy pp. 457-463 and the "Anciennes coustumes d'Orleans" pp. 464- 475. Provenance: Ex-libris from the library of Count Paul-Henri Lanjuinais, a French politician of the 19th and 20th centuries belonging to the royalist right, deputy of the Pontivy constituency.
