VIEUSSENS (Raymond) Nevrographia Universalis hoc est, omnium Corporis Humani Nervorum, simul & cerebri, medullaesque spinalis descriptio anatomica. Lugduni (Lyon), Certe, 1685. In folio : 9f., 252pp. 1f. illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of the author engraved by Boulanger and 30 plates (8 in the text and 22 folding). Some leaves with small stains, others browned. Contemporary glazed brown calf, spine with old ornaments, restored at the corners and on the edges, gilt roulette on the edges, red edges. A good copy. Rare first edition of one of the first monographs of the nervous system, considered as the most beautiful illustrated book of the 17th century on the subject with 2 very large folding plates showing the nervous system of the legs. Raymond Vieussens (1641-1715), physician to the Duchess of Montpensier, then to Louis XIV. Provenance: Ex-libris Joannis Novaro Mascarello, Chirugian (1879).
