TORT-de-LASONDE (Barthélémy) Trial of Barthélémy Tort-de-Lasonde, accused of conspiracy against the state and of complicity with Dumouriez. Act by which Lasonde, acquitted, denounces and accuses, in front of the council of the Five Hundred, the executive board and the minister of justice Merlin de Douai, as guilty, towards him, of prevarication and oppression. Tort de Lasonde, merchant, embassy secretary and publicist who played various roles during the French Revolution and was involved in several resounding trials; his links with Dumouriez earned him two incarcerations. The first one by the emperor of Austria; the second one during the entry of the French in Belgium. Considered as a suspect of emigration before the military court of Brussels, he was acquitted and sent back to the revolutionary court of Paris and incarcerated in La Conciergerie. He was released and returned to Brussels.
