JULES DESBOIS (1851-1935) SCULPTOR & ADRIEN-AURÉLIEN... - Lot 294 - Briscadieu
JULES DESBOIS (1851-1935) SCULPTOR & ADRIEN-AURÉLIEN HÉBRARD FOUNDER-PUBLISHER "Full-length portrait of an elegant woman" circa 1910. Possibly a unique print Sculpture. Proof in bonze with a shaded black patina. Lost wax casting. Early edition from the first quarter of the 20th century. The inside of the bottom filled with plaster. Signed J. DESBOIS and bearing the lost wax foundry stamp A.A. HÉBRARD on the back of the terrace. H.: 41 cm. To note : This is the first known proof (possibly the only one made) of this model. This hitherto unknown full-length sculpted portrait could be a commissioned work for a celebrity or for a relative of the artist. Unfortunately, neither exchanges with the Jules Desbois Museum (which has no record of this sculpture in its archives), nor consultation of the Hébrard collection have enabled us to determine definitively the name of the model who posed for this sculpture.
