Bordeaux and Guyenne BALTAZAR de GACHEO (Jean, IInd of the name) colonel History of the Guyenne War. Textual reprint made on the only copy of the original edition and accompanied by a Notice and Notes by Mr. Charles Barry. Bordeaux, Lefebvre, 1876. In-8: 2f, LXVIII, 2f, IV, 1f, 234pp, 2f; a folding table out of text. Edition of 300 copies, one of 29 on Whatman (n°14). A fine copy with full margins. ½ brown calf of the period, spine ribbed with grotesque, red title page, green title page. A fine copy. Very rare work dealing with one of the most troubled periods of the history of Bordeaux and its region and relates the events and facts of war in Guyenne in the years 1651-1653. The original undated but contemporary of the facts, very rare, was reprinted in Cologne by Egmont in 1674 on an incomplete copy and gave a corrupted version full of errors (Labadie 829).
