Bearn - Lescar - Lot 176
Bearn - Lescar DUBARAT (Victor Pierre) canon The Breviary of Lescar of 1541 republished with an introduction and notes on our old local liturgies. Pau, Ribaut ; Paris, Picard, 1891. Large in-4: VI (list of subscribers), 1f. blank, CCXXXVIII, 1f. blank, 272pp. printed in red and black and framed texts, some illustrations and coats of arms in the text. Old religious stamp on cover. ½ burgundy chagrin with fillets at the corners, spine decorated with nerves, gilt head, parchment cover publisher retained. The Bayonne Missal published by the same publisher having been printed at 265 copies (including 15 on Hollande); it is possible that this one, although published before and without justification of edition, is of the same number. Facsimile edition of the Latin breviary. The large preface, of definite historical interest, could be the subject of a book by itself (Barbe 276).
