[MAURICE (Ch.)] [Souvenirs des Pyrénées, Paris, Sinnett, ca. 1850] In-12: 25 plates of costumes lithographed on a tinted background and enhanced in color at the time. Accordion-folded in publisher's cartonnage, ½ orange percaline, chagrined paper boards with gilt title on upper board with rocaille framing, wear rubs. These could be reprints of the anonymous album known as "petit Maurice", or so R. Ancely claimed. There are several 25-plate editions, including one with a title printed in the name of Lafon in Pau and an untitled edition with figs in the name of Dulon in Bagnères de Bigorre. At the end of the volume, this volume includes a flyleaf pasted on the bottom cover in the name of Sinnett, listing 27 costume albums in a format and presentation identical to this one. Apart from Paris, only the Pyrenees, Brittany and Normandy are included, the rest being devoted to military costumes, fashion, etc. (Labarère 1003 and 663-664)(Pyrénéana p. 55 n° 3298) Provenance: Copy of Maurice Gourdon of the Club Alpin Français (wet stamp) and printed bookplate of Gabriel La Plagne Barris.
