The illustrator Emilio Porset, the first painter of the golden age of bullfighting posters, who was the artistic director, along with Francisco Navarrete Sierra, also played an important role in the publication. Its literary director was the journalist, writer and playwright Leopoldo López de Saá (1870-1936). The magazine began publication on April 6, 1896, but was not likely to reappear during the 1898 season, as announced the previous year. Composed of twelve pages, which eventually grew to sixteen, with a few exceptional twenty-page issues, it appeared every Monday morning and published literary articles, a few poetic compositions, portraits of the greatest matadors past and present, breeding histories, views of the main arenas and tables of bullfighting customs, reports on bullfights in Madrid and elsewhere, thanks to its correspondents, and general news intended both for aficionados and for all those taking part in the Fiesta Nacional. The magazine also featured articles on the history, anecdotes and highlights of bullfighting, as well as a spectator's guide and, at the end, commercial advertisements. In addition to photogravures, he also publishes drawings and comic strips. His literary collaborators include Leopoldo Vázquez, Juan Pérez Zúñiga, Manuel del Río García, José Bañuls Aracil, Angel R. Chaves, Luis Carmena, Mariano del Toro y Herrero, José Yruela, A. Ramírez Bernal, and the pseudonyms Tris -Tras and Tabardillo, among others. Its administrators were José Sorrozabal and Carlos Girón.
