Bern, Walthard and Typographical Society, 1780–81. 3 volumes, in-8; illustrated with 3 allegorical frontispieces by DUNKER, 73 plates (21/25/27) by Sugmund FREUDENBERG, engraved by Guttenberg, Halbou, Henriquez, Delaunay, and others; 72 headpieces and 72 tailpieces designed by DUNKER and engraved by himself, Eichler, and Richter. Printed on large-format paper; a few browned leaves; scattered small pinholes. Contemporary fawn calfskin with root-patterned grain, smooth, decorated spines, red title labels, black title labels, a small dent on one top cap, cold-stamped fillets framing the covers, gilt scrolls on the edges, gilt edges. First edition of the illustrated *Heptaméron*. One of the most beautiful illustrated books of the 18th century.
