Augsburg, Probst, 1768. 2 parts in one folio volume: 5f., 97pp., 2f. (register) – 55pp., illustrated with a frontispiece and 39 fold-out plates at the end of the text. The frontispiece, designed by Penther himself, depicts the enthroned Emperor Justinian; the fold-out engravings show geometric and geodetic measuring and drawing instruments. Modern ½-vellum hardcover with corner pieces, red title label on spine. This geometry manual quickly became a standard reference for geodesists, architects, engineers, and cartographers; it was reprinted in various editions as a fundamental text on surveying.
