Morocco leather binding signed by Hardy THEOCRITUS The Idylls of Theocritus, a new translation, enriched with a biography of the Greek poet; preceded by *Hero and Leander*, a museum poem. Syracuse and Paris, Costard, 1775. In-8; allegorical frontispiece. Printed on Dutch paper. Copy with wide margins. 19th-century brown morocco bound, signed HARDY, decorated ribbed spine, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, double gilt fillet on the edges, wide gilt lace on the inside, gilt edges. C. Hardy, a 19th-century bookbinder in Paris, whose workshop was most active between 1850 and 1870. He was highly regarded by bibliophiles of the late 19th century.
