Morocco leather binding signed "Brany" PRÉVOST d'EXILES (Antoine François), abbé The Story of Manon Lescaut and the Chevalier des Grieux. Paris, n.p., 1860. 2 volumes, in-12 format; frontispiece medallion portrait of the author by Schmidt and 9 plates in 3 (or more) states, including one in color (sometimes without the color state). Untrimmed copy. 19th-century fawn morocco bindings signed BRANY, spined with decorative raised bands, black title and volume number labels, triple gilt fillets framing the covers, double gilt fillets on the edges, scrolls and interior fillets with fleurons in the spandrels on blue morocco, double endpapers of handmade paper, gilt edges. Brany, a Parisian bookbinder active during the last third of the 19th century.
