Paris QUAGLIA (Fernando) The Cemeteries of Paris. A Collection of the Most Remarkable Funerary Monuments with Their Inscriptions. Paris, Paris, Lévy fils, n.d. (c. 1850). In folio: 24 double-page plates mounted on tabs depicting more than two hundred monuments (engraved by Collette) ½ brown sheepskin binding of the period, title and gilt lines on a smooth spine that is slightly sun-faded, with a few small scuffs. A fine copy. A rare collection of depictions of remarkable tombs, graves, and funerary monuments found in the cemeteries of Paris. The lithographs feature up to ten monuments per plate. They were selected for the ornamentation and architectural features of the monument as well as for the renown of the deceased. An extremely rare work cataloging statues that exemplify the great richness and extreme diversity of French funerary sculpture.
