MARCA (Pierre de) Dissertations by the Most Illustrious Peter de Marca, Archbishop of Paris, on the Harmony between the Priesthood and the Empire... Ecclesiastical Dissertations on Various Topics... Bamberg, Dederich, 1788–89. 6 volumes in-4. Former ecclesiastical library stamp. 1/2 contemporary fawn calfskin, decorated ribbed spine, red title labels, black volume numbers, red edges. A statesman from Béarn, he was a loyal supporter of Richelieu. Appointed a Councilor of State in 1639, it was on Richelieu’s orders that Pierre de MARCA published *De Concordia...* " in response to the 1740 work *Optati, galli, de cavendo schismate...* by Dr. Charles Hersent.
