German senior officer's saber, featuring an exceptional, slightly curved Damascus blade measuring 805 mm, signed on the heel by the cutler Ewald Cleff of Solingen, with a raised spine and a counter-edge at the pommel, etched and gilded on both sides in Sütterlin script “To Major von Frankenberg-Ludwigsdorf, the Officer Corps of the Uhlan Regiment of Emperor Alexander III of Russia (West Prussia) No. 1” and on the other side, within cartouches surrounded by oak leaves, the names of the twenty-seven officers of the regiment, Blücher-style brass mount, smooth single-branch guard and half-earpiece engraved with the coat of arms of the von Frankenberg und Ludwigsdorf family, shank sheathed in shagreen with some remnants of filigree, long-tailed pommel and coiled quillon, brushed steel scabbard with two straps and a straight-carry system, wear, oxidation, missing filigree; otherwise in very good to excellent condition, total length 960 mm, Germany, World War I era.
