A fine flintlock hunting rifle for a well-to-do child, with a 590 mm barrel that transitions from square to round, marked in gold letters “canon tordu” on the upper square section, a stepped muzzle, a flintlock lock signed “Grammont à Bordeaux,” engraved swan-neck trigger, flanged pan with spark guard and roller spring, flat trigger under an engraved trigger guard ending in an urn shape at the front, checkered stock, thumb rest, engraved and marbled half-moon butt plate, whale-tail grip with bone pommel, overall length 910 mm, minor wood wear otherwise in excellent to very good condition, superb and luxurious 19th-century French craftsmanship, category D § e.
