GALLÉ FACTORIES (1904–1936) - Lot 280
GALLÉ FACTORIES (1904–1936) “Clematis” Large table lamp; the flattened baluster stem rests on a circular base, and the conical shade features an inward-curving rim; dual lighting, in the stem and beneath the shade—the two parts may have been re-paired at some point in the past but at a later date. A multilayered glass piece featuring a rotating title motif etched with acid and treated in blue and plum on a marbled yellow background with amber undertones. Complete with its three-pronged bronze stand. Signed “GALLÉ” on the lampshade and the base, in reserve, engraved in acid-etched cameo. H.: 57 cm. There is a slight difference in the shades of blue and in the engraving between the lampshade and the base; the two pieces may have been re-paired at some point in the past but at a later date. Bibliography: Alastair Duncan and Georges de Bartha—Gallé Lamps—Antiques Collectors Club, 2014. An identical model is reproduced on page 120 (ill. 7.47).
