L'ouvrage traite des origines des Irlandais, références aux écrivains classiques, développement de la société irlandaise, etc. Sir James Ware a été comparé à William Camden, car c'est grâce aux détails précis de ses descriptions, que l'Irlande est finalement devenue un pays à part entière.
