PAINTED WOODEN BOAT - Lot 127
PAINTED WOODEN BOAT CANVAS AND CORDELETS featuring a three-masted galleon and two castles, with an iron anchor, sails painted with a red cross and still partially legible shields, a two-coloured flag; originally suspended from a gallows. 17th century. H.: 62 cm, L.: 86 cm. (Accidents and missing persons). The oldest model listed today belongs to the museum of Apt (Vaucluse) and can be dated back to 1655. It is a reduction of a frigate called "Le Dragon", given to the cathedral of Apt in thanks to Saint Anne following an expedition to Naples in 1654.
