Paris, Desprez and Desessartz, 1725. 5 volumes in folio : 10f, CC, 675pp / 676-1544pp, LVI / VIII, V-CII, 819pp / 1f, 839pp / 1f, 944pp ; illustrated with an allegorical frontispiece (engraved by Simonneau), 3 vignettes at the head, and 32 engraved plates (in 36 leaves numbered 1 to 36) representing the most beautiful monuments of Paris. Without the large map of Paris. Scattered foxing more or less strong in places. Contemporary fawn granite calf, spine ribbed and decorated, 6 headpieces damaged and 2 missing, double gilt fillet on the edges, small leather tears, spine ends cracked, red edges. First edition. The last three volumes are a first-rate historical source, since they contain the transcription of numerous documents on the city of Paris prior to 1500. The most reliable and complete history of Paris up to that time.
