In folio: 3f. and LVIII coloured plates. Small light spotting. ½ modern midnight blue chagrin with corners, spine ribbed and decorated. A good copy. In-8 : IV, 3f., 620pp. ½ calf with corners, worn, black title on smooth spine, rubbing, one jaw very weak, one plate partly detached. Beautiful anatomical atlas illustrating the method of dissection practiced at University College London. Illustrations of the hand and neck, upper limb, perineum, abdominal walls, pelvis and lower limb. Provenance: 2 bookplates, one printed, the other handwritten of George William Rigden (1815-1904), Surgeon, medical pioneer, and health reformer. He served the people of Canterbury for 63 years as a "dispensary physician", treating the poor of Canterbury and trying to improve the welfare of all the citizens of the city, for at that time many of the dispensary patients lived in slums. He promoted vaccination and was one of the first public vaccinators in 1870.
