Contemporary spotted brown calf, spine ribbed and decorated, restorations to spines, corners and headpieces, edges red. First Dutch edition of the first English monograph dedicated to the liver, illustrated with an engraved frontispiece representing a public dissection. Provenance: Wet stamp Dr Jules Parrot, probably Joseph-Marie-Jules Parrot (1829-1883), chief physician of the Hospice des Enfants-Assistés and professor of infantile clinic, then member of the Académie de Médecine.
