Plague - Marseille JAUFRET (Louis-François) Historical pieces on the Plague of Marseille and part of Provence, in 1720, 1721 and 1722, found in the archives of the Hôtel-de-Ville, in those of the Prefecture, in the Office of the sanitary administration, and in the manuscript cabinet of the library of Marseille, published in 1820, on the occasion of the secular Year of the Plague. Marseille, main booksellers, 1820. 2 volumes in-8 : 4pp. (prospectus), 4f. 420pp. with frontispiece portrait of Mgr de Belsunce (bishop of Marseille in 1720) / 2f. 416pp. with facsimile of Mgr de Belsunce's handwriting in frontispiece, folding plate of the Hôtel de Ville de Marseille in fine. Small scattered spotting in places. Contemporary speckled brown basane, decorated smooth spines, red title-pieces and tomonnieres, one headband torn off, small garland on the boards, gilt fillet on the edges, slight rubbing, corners bumped, red edges.
