LE CAT (Claude-Nicolas) La Théorie de l'Ouie: supplement to this article of the Traité des Sens. Paris, Vallat-La-Chapelle, 1768. In-8 : XXXII, 320pp ; illustrated with a frontispiece and 12 folding plates in fine. Contemporary marbled fawn calf, spine ribbed and decorated, red title page, black tomaison, gilt roulette on the edges, red edges. Le Cat was one of the first advocates of the union of medicine and surgery and adopted an anatomical-clinical method by which his students participated in his research. In 1737, he was appointed royal demonstrator in surgery and gave courses in experimental physics as well as therapeutics, anatomy and physiology.
