(including engraved title), 363pp. Numerous woodcuts in and out of the text, large beautiful initials. Printed on strong paper. Old vellum of the time, red title page, black publisher's page, renewed endpapers. A very fine copy. Girolamo Scipione Mercurio, Italian Dominican, was a physician, professor of logic and mathematics, who died in 1615. He wrote the first Italian book on obstetrics, very important in the study of caesarean sections (Waller 6495).
