OEnology - Lot 89
OEnology FÉRET (Édouard) General Statistics of the Gironde Department. II: Administrative division of the department - special study of each commune - classification of wines, quantities harvested by each owner and selling prices. Bordeaux, Féret ; Paris, Masson, 1874. In-8: 930pp. (including VIII), 1f. Adorned with 242 drawn views of châteaux. ½ burgundy calf with corners, spine gilt, title gilt, cover preserved (not signed but Dressayre). A fine copy. Precious biographical documentation which goes far beyond the Gironde and even the South-West. This second volume is devoted to the communes, with a classification of wines, perfectly complete in itself. The complete set includes 3 volumes published between 1874 and 1889; the first one contains the topographical, scientific, agricultural, industrial, commercial and administrative part, the third one was the most considerable in terms of research, and required more than thirty collaborators including Jules DELPIT, Philippe-Louis BORDES-DE-FORTAGE or Charles MARIONNEAU.
