Great Britain - George VI BOWYER (Robert) An impartial Historical narrative of those Momentous events which have taken place in this Country during the period from the year 1816 to 1823. Small stains per place in the text. ½ burgundy percaline with corners, handwritten title piece in ink on spine, burgundy chagrin vignette with gilt title at center of upper board, corners dulled. Rare. First and only edition of this illustrated account of the tumultuous investigation of Queen Caroline's adultery and the subsequent coronation of George IV. This impartial history recounts the investigation, the queen's return to stand trial in the House of Lords, and the subsequent coronation of George IV, which the queen was forcibly prevented from attending. She died only three weeks later amidst rumors that she had been poisoned. The color aquatints include The Coronation of George IV - The Arrival, at Brandenburgh House, of the Watermen, &c. - The Queen returning from the House of Lords. The other black plates feature facsimile signatures (2 plates), members of the royal family and various peers.
