Charles SCHNEIDER (1881-1953) ART GLASS AND IRON WORKS. FORMER COLLECTION ROD STEWARD Leaves and fruits of gingko biloba & Arums. Spectacular suspension with 4 lights. The frame in wrought iron describing three arcatures and with the motives of leaves of gingko; the fruits of the tree represented by a multitude of marmorated glass balls (pink and yellow) fixed, in their center, by wrought iron stems. The light is diffused by a large central bulge and by three tall tulips stretched with a clamp evoking arums; these lamp covers are made of glass with ochre-yellow and pink intercalated colors. Circa 1920. Missing a gingko leaf and a glass ball, slight small scattered accidents on the balls, a very light chip on the base of one of the tulips and a small chip on another, the bolts and nuts of the central crown retaining the shell changed, the point of the shell possibly taken again, electrification not of origin, condition of use. Signed SCHNEIDER on the amphora, in engraving and gilding on the central shell. H.: 95 cm, L.: 75 cm Provenance: Former Rod Steward Collection (Sale Sotheby's New York, November 18, 1994).
