FROMENT MEURICE Mid-19th century, part of a chatelaine transformed into a brooch, in silver and silver plate, chased and enamelled. Two cherubs hold an opal in a ribbon knot, topped by a pearl, the center is embellished with a faceted oval maderian citrine underlined by a garland of foliage and pearls, the bottom of the brooch is adorned with a blue enameled drape holding a green enameled vine leaf and three pearls in a pendant. 41.7 g. The back is engraved Froment Meurice, the brooch is stamped with a swan in two places. Dimensions: 6,1 x 5,2 cm. Pin of the brooch added, restorations. The motif of confronted cherubs is often found in the works of Froment Meurice and in particular on the bracelet of the exhibition of the products of the industry of 1844 for which François-Désiré obtained a gold medal.
