Beautiful cane called "Pomander" (or cane-vinaigrette or doctor) with flared handle in ivory finely inlaid with geometric patterns studded with silver. The top of the handle is perforated with small holes, screw system to place a scented tablet. Malacca rush shaft with two eyelets. Ring and tip in silver. English work of the 18th century. Length 85 cm. Note : The ladies who fainted would wake up breathing this pungent smell. One could also put perfumed essences in it to mask the nauseating odors of public places.
