This Traité de la Police is a monument to the erudition and history of legislation. The fourth volume was published posthumously by Lecler du Brillet. Laws and regulations relating to religion, morality, health and the history of the Police are the main themes of the first three volumes, while the fourth and last deals with buildings, public roads and the police de la voirie.
