A superb copy on Japon paper in a morocco binding. GAUTIER (Théophile) Le Roman de la Momie, engraved with burin and etching by Alex. Lunois. Paris, Conquet, 1901. In-4; illustrated with 42 compositions. Limited edition of 250 copies, one of 150 on Japon. Also contains an original watercolor by Georges ROCHEGROSSE dedicated to Mr. Edmond Fournier. Brown morocco signed KAUFFMANN-HORCLOIS, spine ribbed and decorated, cold irons at head and foot, gilt title and author, central mosaic torch with gilt support, series of gilt fillets framing a wide listel of beige and black mosaic leathers, all framing the boards, mosaic torches in spandrels, double gilt fillet on edges, sextuple gilt fillet inside, slight rubbing at foot, gilt edges. In a protective slipcase. A very fine copy. Published in 1858, Le Roman de la Momie is a ''romantic tale of Egyptian life in biblical times. Provenance ; Original watercolor for Mr. Edmond Fournier, an Orientalist painter established in the suburbs of Algiers from 1900.
