Account of a voyage of discovery to the west coast of Corea, and the great Loo-Choo island, with an appendix and a vocabulary of the Loo- Choo language, by H. J. Clifford, Esq. London, Murray, 1818.
In-4; illustrated with 8 aquatint color plates, 2 black plates and 5 maps (some folding), all hors texte.
Contemporary fawn calf, spine decorated with raised bands, gilt garland framing the boards, geometric decoration with cold fleurons, gilt roulette on the edges, inner gilt roulette.
This expedition explored the relatively unknown East China Sea and Yellow Sea. Visits were also made to Korea and the Ryukyu archipelago.
Provenance: Ex-libris printed with the crossed numeral "DC" surmounted by a crowned ram's head, to be identified.
