In-4: 2f., 28pp. illustrated with 50 maps (numbered 1-49 and 17 bis) and 22 tables of statistics in fine, most of them folding. Small ink stain in extreme angular margin at foot of last few leaves.
Contemporary mottled fawn calf, ornate ribbed spine, red and green titles, 2 stains on upper board, double gilt fillet on edges, red edges.
Rigobert Bonne was one of the leading cartographers of the late 18th century, whose work is renowned for its accuracy, particularly in coastal areas. He marked a turning point in European cartography, favoring technical aspects over ornamentation.
