Large folio; 41 superb chromolithographic plates with explanatory text leaves opposite, rare very slight traces of in-fne wetness, marginal snags on two plates.
Contemporary ½ brown chagrin with corners, brown title-piece on smooth spine, rubbing and wear (corners at foot), red edges.
First edition of Hoola van Nooten's magnificent plates of exotic flowers and fruits, painted while she was living in Java. The quality of the chromolithographs adds to the striking quality of these superb plates.
Well complete with the 41 plates advertised; copies with only 40 plates are common (Nissen 931).
