Large in-8: 2f., 41pp.
Red lavaliere morocco signed CHAMBOLLE-DURU, lined with peccary, gilt title on spine, slightly rubbed jaws, double gilt fillet on edges, arms of Count René de Béarn on peccary-lined countersleeves, cold-cut numeral in spandrels, gilt edges. A fine copy.
Two publications on the House of Béarn, in identical red morocco bindings.
It is said that his immoderate taste for sumptuous bindings completely ruined this passionate bibliophile.
Provenance: A library copy bearing the arms and cipher of Count René de Béarn (with Galard crows and Béarn cows).
