Midnight-blue morocco, signed RAPARLIER, ornate ribbed spine, Duseuil-style boards, slight rubbing, a small bump on one board, double gilt fillet on edges, interior lace, gilt edges. A fine copy. This little-known 16th-century Gascon poet was a friend of Montaigne and Du Bartas. According to Dezeimeris, he is the first of the second-rate poets. Millanges published a first edition of his poems in 1576 (Labadie 1778).
