Mont-Perdu - Lot 358
Mont-Perdu G. B. Voyage Poétique au Mont Perdu ou à la Cime des Pyrénées by M.G.B. Dedicated to Mademoiselle L. de ***. Paris, Jeulin, 1821. In-8: 3f., 119pp. Scattered spotting. ½ contemporary red calf, gilt title on spine. Very rare first edition of this travel report in the form of letters in prose and verse. The original edition was published in 1823 by Laglaise, but printed on the same dies without any changes apart from the title and verso of the faux-tittre. It should be possible to identify this author by researching the village of Pujeard in Gironde (now Peujeard), where the author lived. "Fadasse prose and mirliton verses", says FOURCASSIÉ curtly, who has no knowledge of the original. ( Labarère 623 )(see Bibliog. De la France 1821 n° 166 for the original)
