MICHIELS (Alfred) Les Chasseurs de Chamois. Paris, Hachette, 1860. In 16: 2f, IV, 322pp, (1). Hawker's stamp, slight small scattered spotting. Contemporary ½ eggplant chagrin, ornate ribbed spine, attractive thematic dog and bird irons between boxes, red edges. A fine copy. Uncommon. 30 pages are devoted to isard and ibex hunting in the Pyrenees. Highly sought-after. There are normally 4 catalog pages at the end of the volume, only one of which has been preserved here (Thiébaud 662)(Labarère 1048). Provenances: 3 printed ex-libris: Félix Philibert comte de Simony "Felicis Philiberti de Comitibus Simony"; Ex-libris FG with the motto "Je lui dois tout"; ex-libris of comte Georges de La Ferté-Senectère (French general who owned a superb hunting library and one of the most important collections of venier buttons in France).
