Paris, Le Livre Contemporain, 1920. Large in-4, text framed in a midnight-blue frieze. Edition of 126 copies, here no. 1 printed for Louis Barthou. Autograph letters from Raymond Poincaré and Marshal Foch to Louis Barthou. Convocation from the Académie Française to M. Barthou glued to white endpaper and signed by Foch, Henry de Régnier, Poincaré, Louis Barthou, Maurice Druon, René Boylesve, etc., among others. Midnight-blue morocco lined with burgundy morocco signed MARIUS MICHEL, gilt title on spine, frieze of laurel branches in green and brown morocco and set in gold, 6 gilt fillets on covers, silk endpapers with star motifs, double marbled paper endpapers, publisher's cover preserved, gilt edges. Protective slipcase slightly rubbed. A very fine copy. Provenance: Copy from the library of Louis Barthou, with his printed bookplate (Mention on separate handwritten leaf: no. 316 of the Louis Barthou sale catalog - March 1935), then in a private library.
