Andorra - Lot 203
Andorra SANS (J.), cadet (from Bourgmadame) Histoire de la vallée d'Andorre et de ses rapports avec le ci-devant comté de Foix, aujourd'hui formant le département de l'Ariège. Toulouse, Dours, 1842. In-12, 130pp. ½ modern green basane, red long title on spine, publisher's blue cover retained. Few works have been written on the valley of Andorra. The first work published in 1823 on this country, without author's name, under the title De l'Andorre, is attributed to M. Roussillou. A copy, reprint or counterfeit of this book was published in 1842 under the new title "Histoire de la vallée d'Andorre et de ses rapports avec le ci-devant comté de Foix" (the edition presented here). In 1846, a series of feuilletons on this little Pyrenean republic appeared in a Paris newspaper. The book "Histoire du Pays et du Comté de Foix" added further historical details about this neutral valley, which is so interesting in so many ways.
