[CATO (Dionysius)] - Lot 403
[CATO (Dionysius)] [Opusculorum cum commentariis diligentissime emendati : videlicet. Catonis : Theodoli : Faceti : Cartule alias De contemptu mundi : Thobiadis : Parabolarum Alani : Fabularum Esopi : Floreti] (title page missing). Lugduni, impressi per Stephanum Baland, Anno Domini MCCCCCV. Die vero quinta mensis martii. In-4: a-r8, s-t6, v8 (missing leaf a1 which is the title page). Some minor foliation errors (letter t). Text in two columns. Gothic characters. Old stiff vellum, one spine split, restorations on spine. The "Facetus", the "Cartula" and the "Floretus", whose current titles are "Liber Faceti", "Liber de contemptu mundi" and "Liber Floreti" respectively, have sometimes been attributed to Jean de Garlande, but it seems more likely that the first of these works was written by Reinerus Alemanus and the last 2 by Saint Bernard. The "Thobias" begins with the title: "Incipit liber Thobie. In libro qui Thobias Mathei Vindocinensis intitulatur prologus feliciter incipit.
