Brown morocco signed CLOSS, gilt title on spine, double gilt fillet on edges, inner gilt lace, gilt edges, publisher's beige cover preserved. A fine copy. The original edition is from 1845, with a slightly different title and a frontispiece by Gorse that was not included in this second printing. This second edition of 1866 (here the 1872 reissue with a cover of this date), an event obligatory, is augmented by a new chapter devoted to the famous apparition.
