Preface by M. WILLEMIN, introduction and notes by E.A. MARTEL with the collaboration of MM. Armand SARRAMON and Henri COLSON). Toulouse, Privat ; Paris, Didier, 1934. In-8 square: 320pp; numerous illustrations in the text, printed on glossy paper. ½ tan basane with filleted corners, gilt title, author and finial on spine, snake-style paper boards, publisher's cover retained. Posthumous text complementing the atlas of 210 French Pyrenean lakes published in 1929. This explanatory text was being written when Abbé Gaurier died in 1931. However, it saw the light of day in 1934, thanks to the work of some of his friends, Messrs. Willemin, E.A. Martel, Armand Sarramon and Henri Colson, in putting together his various writings and notes. This volume only partially reflects the monumental work that Abbé Gaurier intended to publish, but it remains an important testimony to scientific Pyreneanism in the first half of the 20th century.
