CARLOS PRADAL (Madrid, 1932 - Paris 1988) Laying banderillas "al sesgo por fuera" (on the way out) Ink and wash, signed lower right 47 x 61 cm on view In a frame under glass A Spanish painter who worked mainly in Toulouse, Carlos Pradal (1932-1988), son of a deputy from Alméría in the Republican parliament, had to seek refuge in France at an early age. Self-taught, he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-arts de Toulouse from 1960, arriving in Paris in 1972. The end of Francoism enabled him to return to Spain and make a name for himself there. In 1986, the Musée des Augustins in Toulouse devoted a major retrospective to his work. In France, Carlos Pradal's work can be found in museums in Toulouse, Paris and Castres.
