Paris, Jombert, 1752. In-4: 4f., 448pp. 6f. illustrated with 37 folding plates. Excellent condition. Contemporary brown granite calf, spine with pastiche decoration (restoration by professional), red title-piece, triple fillet framing the boards, restorations to the corners, marbled edges. Nicolas Bion (1652 - 1733), manufacturer of globes and instruments, was appointed "Ingénieur du Roi pour les Instrumens de Mathématiques". The seventh part of the book is entirely devoted to the use and construction of marine instruments.
