Eugène CLAUDE (Toulouse, 1841-Paris, 1922) - Lot 119
Eugène CLAUDE (Toulouse, 1841-Paris, 1922) The roofs of Asnières. View from the artist's studio Oil on canvas signed lower left. Circa 1880. 32 x 46 cm. Participating in the Paris Salon as early as 1861, Eugène Claude won several medals and his works were purchased by various museums. He excelled at painting flowers, fruit, game and kitchen interiors. This did not prevent him from painting landscapes with a lively, spontaneous touch, not far removed from certain Impressionists. He had set up his studio in Asnières, of which he offers here a particularly original view.
